Rolling in the Trash

by Kathy Freeman

supported by
Robin Gunns FRW
Robin Gunns FRW thumbnail
Robin Gunns FRW Snarky, irreverent lyrics, sweet arrangements with tasteful guitar. Just a pinch of Nashville hokey, which no decent ballad should be without. Wish I could write and play half as good. R.G. Favorite track: Three Little Questions.

This is the place where the real folk go And all the hipsters don’t even know….. about the Ninety Nine Everything is fine You can shake it loose till the end of time You kissed goodbye to the American dream Over here it’s a different scene In the Ninety Nine Everything is fine You can shake it loose till the end of time Nobody’s gonna judge you, you can be just who you are Nobody’s gonna rush you, and Tanja runs the bar in the Ninety Nine Everything is fine You can shake it loose till the end of time Warum siehst du traurig aus? Scheib dein Traene sofort raus Du bekommst keine zweite Chance - C’mon lets dance! in the Ninety Nine Everything is fine You can shake it loose till the end of time

Three AM 02:46
I lay down my head but my my head’s too hot I’m burning up and my nerves are shot I got some pills but they don’t do jack Jesus Christ, I want my money back It’s three a.m. -feels like the end See you in my dreams if I ever get to sleep again Gonna miss you Lay down on my bed but the bed’s too hard Too much going on in my back yard Some are blessed, but others fall It’s a random thing and it makes no sense at all It’s three a.m....... Got a worried mind and a pounding heart We’re painting crazy pictures in the dark And I’m looking at the deepest cut This time round I’m really cracking up It’s three a.m......

There’s no more good times – and there’s no more fun There’s no more lovin’ when day is done No honey baby - no little doll it’s just you, me and alcohol You and me and alcohol We all went out for a little stroll I got back home, don’t ask me how You’re still walking now There’s no more good times..... Stella Artois rolled into your life She’s the mistress and I’m the wife She traps grown men like little flies Don’t you realise? No more good times........... How the hell can I compete With my damaged heart and my two left feet? One and one and one is three That’s one too many for me No more good times........ it’s just you, me and alcohol – there’s nothing left to say it’s just you, me and alcohol - all the way it’s just you, me and alcohol – every day It’s just you. me and alcohol

This world is full of heartache and this world is full of tears You find what you were looking for and then it disappears This world is out to break me but I’m putting up a fight Let’s make this world a better place – let’s rock tonight Something shifted deep inside The room was spinning round All the stars are lining up for you and me Let’s shoot ‘em down This world is closing in on me, I don’t know what to do I haven’t got an answer, I haven’t got a clue So fill my glass and take me with you - I’ll be alright Let's make this world a better place – let’s rock tonight Come a little closer babe Said the spider to the fly I still remember every thing we did But I can’t remember why Tomorrow I will suffer, tomorrow I will pay But I ain’t gonna let my common sense get in the way This world can’t bring me down if I’m as high as a kite Let’s make this world a better place – let’s rock tonight

Shot your mouth off though you’re long gone Had to tell everybody what went on You pissed on that one last sweet memory Pissed on the good times you had with me Cause you been rolling, rolling, rolling, Rolling in the trash Rolling, rolling, rolling You couldn’t walk the line if you was Johnny Cash You used to point the finger, take the high ground If I came out late I must be messin’ round Here we go, it’s another fine speech But you don’t practice what you preach Cause you been rolling, rolling, rolling........... Bad girls, bad news, Bad karma and bad moves Look in the mirror if you wanna move on Everybody sing along Cause you been rolling, rolling, rolling...........

I got three little questions Think it over, take your time But I can hear the traffic starting down below Tell me, How much do you love her? How much do you want her? And how much would it take to let her go? You’re safe and warm It’s cold outside You got your home I’ve got my pride How much do you love her? I got three little questions Take it easy, take it slow But look me in the eyes and let me know How much do you love her? How much do you want her? How much would it take to let her go? Don’t call around Don’t ring my bell Give me some answers Or go to hell How much do you love her?........

O.V.E.R. 02:44
O-V-E-R Left you far behind me but it wasn’t hard to find me There’s a trail of teardrops leading to my door But let me make it clear that you’ve got no business here Honey, you’re not welcome any more ‘Cause it’s O-V-E-R. over Which letter don’t you understand? Yes it’s O-V-E-R. over Do what you like ‘cause I don’t give a damn. There’s noone here with me, I got no secret company I know you don’t believe me but it’s true I’m running out of patience with your jealous accusations The only one who screwed it up is you And it’s O-V-E-R. over..... I said you had to choose between the marriage and the booze It didn’t take you long to throw our love away Now you want it back - it ain’t easy keeping track You’d best believe me when I say That it’s O-V-E-R. over.........

Saturday night – but it’s not alright Pull down the shades and dim the light Who would have thought? Who would have known? That we’d be drinking to the ghost of David Crome An open road and a restless soul He’s the man who made the good times roll Who would have thought?.............. Wish I’d seen the danger signs Wish I’d read between the lines Who would have thought?.............. Goodbye buddy – miss you so I hope you’re happy everywhere you go Who would have thought?...............
9.
Do you think you’ll live forever? Do you really know the score? Is there really someone waiting when you hit the other shore? There were shock waves on the ether on the day we heard the news Now we’re pickin' up the pieces and we’re sifting through the clues Are you happy with the angels? You took your leave – it wasn’t long From one moment to another There you were - now you’re gone You’re with us in the front room as we talk about the past The magic and the memories, the dreams that didn’t last I recall those conversations and I feel a sudden chill So much left to talk about but now we never will Are you happy with the angels?........ Some are born to make it – some are born to lose Few of us are bold enough to live the life we choose So as the planets keep on turning and the sun sets in the west I had to write this song cause you were different from the rest. Are you happy with the angels?............

They’re taking this old place apart They’re ripping its living heart I got the pictures in my head All the rest is good as dead That’s where I found my black guitar Cool S G with a whammy bar Brick by brick they kill the beat Down on Denmark street Money talks louder than people like me Money talks louder than people like me Money talks louder than people like me …. people like me How could I be so naïve No happy end, and no reprieve Nothing I can do or say Turn around and walk away We used to meet in old Soho Always had some place to go They pulled the rug from under my feet Down on Denmark street Money talks louder than people like me...... That’s where I found my black guitar Cool S G with a whammy bar Brick by brick they kill the beat Down on Denmark street Money talks louder than people like me.......... That’s where I found my black guitar Cool S G with a whammy bar

about

About ROLLING IN THE TRASH:

Genres – From rock to country to punk and back again

Song themes - Life, death, alcohol and men behaving badly.

Along with luminaries such as Lou Reed and Ray Manzarek, three good buddies of mine passed away in 2013. All die-hard rockers and rollers. Trying to make sense of that loss, I included three special songs about them on this album. I've done my best to keep every track alive and real, and I hope they would have approved!
